Forget about aluminium foil for cooking purposes! Mr Matthew Warburton and his daughter Madeleine from Ashby-de-la-Zouch, talked and brought along a display of aluminium items on the talk of ‘The Road to Aluminiumart from Burattis to Butterflies’.
At fourteen years of age, Mr Warburton made mudguards for Bugattis and creating panels from aluminium. After graduating from University in Engineering, he then studied Product Design, which allowed him to undertake a variety of projects, such as the display which was shown to members as he talked. These included holly wreaths decorated with holly leaves, butterflies and flowers on aluminium stems and framed items such as London skyline. Madeleine too is hoping to study engineering at university and brought along little butterflies she had stamped out of the metal in drinks cans. Everything sparkled in the light of the zoom and after a question and answer period and a chance to purchase any items, the vote of thanks was given by Mrs A Montague.
