Dear Readers,
I have a question?
Who do Mountsorrel, Rothley and Quorn have history/heritage bases?
So why are Thurmaston and Syston lacking one? I know Syston, Thurmaston and Barkby have history groups.
So Why not?
Yours faithfully, S. Sleath Queniborough
We received this letter on 8th November, from an upset resident
To whom it may concern,
I have marched in, and or watched the remembrance day ceremony in Syston for the past 46 years.
I find it absolutely astounding that there is not going to be a parade this year.
What better way to forget the fallen heroes than to reduce them to a mini show on Central park; out of sight out of mind.
All the surrounding villages are continuing with their traditional parades. Syston the biggest conurbation around can’t or won’t afford the expense of closing roads for an hour.
What is happening to our village (town), all the facilities we once had have gone; two police stations, an Ambulance station, two fire stations and four banks.
All we have now is too many hairdressers, too many curry houses and too many estate agents. I find this a disgusting state of affairs, I hope you councillors are proud of your pitiful efforts.

The following letters were received the week after the Remembrance Sunday
Dear Editor,
I would just like to congratulate the Council and British Legion on the organisation of the service in Central Park. It was inspired to arrange things in the park where there was space for people to spread out in the fresh air. Also to organise a sound system that could be heard very well for some distance. For the first time in the nearly 40 years I’ve lived here I was able to hear it!

Dear Editor,
I would like to congratulate the Town for Remembrance Day on Sunday 14th November. The event was well organised with plenty of room for people on the Central Park, although I did miss the parade, it was good to have something to mark a very special day.
A Syston resident.
