Syston Remembers

On Sunday 14th November the community of Syston gathered on Central Park to remember those who lost their lives in conflict. There was a great turn out on Central Park on a dry autumnal day.
The area behind the bowls green and peace garden was cordoned off for the groups who normally parade from the Melton Road Car Park.
Wreaths were laid at the memorial by Deputy Lieutenant R. Clowes, followed by Veterans, RBL, Council representatives, Army Cadets, Scouts, Cubs, Guides and Brownies, Syston Twinning and WI groups.
The Syston Band and Scout and Guide band played for the hymn and while the wreaths were laid. The last post and reveille were played by a member of Syston Band.
The event was co-ordinated by the Royal British Legion, Syston Branch with assistance from Syston Town Council.
Although different due to the current pandemic, it was lovely to see so many residents and for us all to be able to show our respect to those who gave their lives for our freedom today. The knitted soldier by SKB made it even more poignant.
Lest We Forget!
