Friends of Barkby Road Cemetery
Hello everyone. Ros again reporting from the friends of Syston Cemetery.
Well, it’s nearly Spring again, the winds have gone and not left too much damage within the cemetery, however there were so many flowers and wreaths blown everywhere that it’s not been possible to replace them properly to where they belong – so I apologise that because many were damaged, they couldn’t be returned to their original places.
As a sign of Spring the daffodils are budding up, the skies are getting blue, and the snowdrops are out in full bloom. I decorated the Chapel for Saint Valentine’s Day and I hope you enjoyed the display and maybe took a chocolate which were there for you to help celebrate it. St David’s day was also remembered, and I decorated the Chapel for that as well (did someone say there was a leek in the Chapel).
Now as we enter spring the springtime displays will be intermingled with St Patricks Day, Mothering Sunday and Easter.
The Chapel will be open all weekend for Easter, so it’ll be open on Friday 15th, Saturday 16th and Sunday 17th April.
If you would like to donate a rose or shrub to be planted in the cemetery, please contact Catherine Voyce at Syston Town Council, Tel: 0116 260 7150.
I know that I say this every month, but the Chapel is available for hire for private services and if you wish to do so please contract Catherine Voyce at Syston Town Council.
