Glen Wakeling Crowned Regional Winner in National Heating Installer Awards For Third Time
Glen Wakeling from Queniborough has taken the top prize for the East Midlands in this year’s national Heating Installer Awards following a highly competitive year for the region.
Glen specialises in heating systems from small domestic boilers to large commercial appliances with his company HeatSpec. In recent years, Glen has also worked increasingly with renewables and offers his customers efficient and cost-effective solutions, whilst providing the highest quality engineering service.
A panel of industry experts crowned Glen the winner after an exciting judging day last month, meaning he will now go through to the national final. Glen impressed the judges with his professionalism, commitment to taking on challenges and dedication to customer satisfaction.
Speaking of his win, Glen said: “I am honoured to have won the Heating Installer Awards regional title for the East Midlands for a third time. There are some seriously talented installers in our region so I am really proud to have made the top spot. The rest of the regional finalists are a fantastic bunch of installers, so I wish everyone the best of luck in the next round.”
Following an incredibly close total score, Chris Surridge of Meridian Heating Ltd was also awarded Highly Commended for East Midlands, thanks to his stand out entry, impressive skill and impeccable customer service. Chris will now also move forward into the national final along with Glen.
The awards scheme, now in its seventh year, recognises the achievements and raises the credibility of plumbers and heating installers across the country who deliver excellent customer service on a daily basis. Representatives from the awards’ partners, Armacell, CIPHE, Danfoss, LG, Stelrad and Polypipe Building Products as well as media partner Installer magazine, judged the entries on problem solving, product knowledge and stand out work. The panel was also joined by the 2021 Heating Installer Awards winner, Grant Gundelfinger.

Voting closes on 23rd May and public votes will contribute to a third of the installer’s overall scores, alongside the judges’ scores and the scores from a technical challenge set for all of the regional and highly commended winners.
The winner will be announced on 22nd June at Installer2022, the UK’s national plumbing and heating show.
