Drive It Day 2022

Drive It Day is a special day devised back in the early 20th century where owners of classic cars are encouraged to take them out for a run somewhere.
Local residents Terry Farmer and Vicki Friend, aided by friends Mick Squire and Colin Readwin from Sileby decided that they would organise a short run from Stonehurst Family Farm and Motor Museum to Gates Garden Centre, near Oakham on Sunday 24th April, to leave Stonehurst from 9.30am onwards after refreshments including bacon baps!.
The route wound its way through some interesting places along some very narrow roads! It passed Quenby Hall, Eyebrook Reservoir and Launde Abbey and onwards to Gates to park.
There was then an opportunity to enjoy refreshments, to meet up with other classic car enthusiasts and do some shopping, especially in the splendid Farm Shop.
There was no charge for this run but donations (preferably silent) were asked for Rainbow’s Children’s and Young People’s Hospice. Forty four cars took part and raised a great £600.
