New Barkby W.I.
President of New Barkby W.I. Mrs Shirley Franklin, welcomed members of the institute’s May meeting.
‘Jerusalem’ was sung, followed by business matters.
Mrs Dawn Haynes presented the Resolution to be discussed at the NFWI’s AGM to be held in Liverpool in June.
The NFWI calls on the Government to fund research into the diagnosis of ‘Women and Girls who are presenting Autistic Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), action to be taken to improve the diagnosis process, (why women and girls and not men and boys?),
The presentation was offered by Mrs Dawn Haynes. Everyone voted for the Resolution. Mrs Alma Wright will attend the AGM as delegate representing New Barkby WI. Afterwards there was time at the end of the meeting to enjoy refreshments and conversations with other members.
The vote of thanks was given to Mrs Haynes by Mrs Franklin and Mrs Franklin won the raffle.
The refreshments were served by Mrs J Brutnall and Mrs V Cobb.
The winner of the competition ‘An item in Spring colours’ was won by Mrs D Haynes with a blanket she had crocheted in a variety of pastel shades in wool.
The next meeting will be on Wednesday 1st June with A Party to Celebrate HM The Queen’s Platinum Jubilee.
