QT Theatre Group
Following the great success of our ‘come-back production’ of Lockdown in Little Grimley back in May, I am pleased and excited to let you know about our next production. The group is now in full rehearsal for our next play, ‘Absent Friends’ by Alan Ayckbourn. Sir Alan is probably the most successful modern playwright that we have and it is a pleasure to be tackling one of his socially focused plays, set in the 1970s. It’s also great fun trying to find furniture, costumes and props for this era!
We are certainly enjoying rehearsals; I think we spend more time laughing than performing, and cast members are really throwing themselves into this one! With a cast of six, this production is being directed by me. Please put the dates in your diary the play will be performed w/c 21st November at our usual venue, The Old Chapel, in Chapel Street, Syston. As usual, the play will start at 7.30pm and we will be serving refreshments and holding a raffle every evening. For advance ticket enquiries, please contact Dorothy Surtees on 07989 960 014.
We have welcomed three new members to the team and they have fitted in so well!! Actually one of them, Tom Westwood, was a member 20 years ago but he’s ‘new’ to the existing members! We also have Jo Gallagher and Jo Woolaston – both have acting experience from before but are bringing a new freshness to the team, all pictured above. In addition to this, it has been good to welcome back Leigh White who had some time away from us, to concentrate on his new role at Curve Theatre. The full cast is Diana (Kat Seddon), Evelyn (Jo Woolaston), Marge (Jo Gallagher), Paul (Tom Westwood), John (Jules Richards) and Colin (Leigh White).
New members are always welcome, not only as actors but also to help with backstage work, props, lighting and sound, etc. If anyone is interested in joining the group, or would like further information, please feel free to contact me on 07702 879 006, but please leave a message or send me a text! Alternatively email me on qtsyston@gmail.com.
