Syston Summer Fayre – A Great Return
What a fantastic day was had by all on Saturday 3rd September, the weather was very kind as everyone set up ready for the 12noon start.
It looked a little quiet to begin with but by 1.00pm the park was full of people, enjoying a walk around the stalls, mini fair and then sitting having a Beer or Gin to listen the bands on the stage. It was lovely to see families with picnic blankets sitting enjoying the entertainment.
The committee would like to thank the following people for supporting the event in which ever way they did:
Millington Travel, who sponsored the event. Hanson for their donation. MSD; main stage, JTH; lower stage, T. Watts; the Skip. PeeWee Toilets for providing all the necessary conveniences.
Tubes for the stage steps and the Scouts for providing hot food throughout the day.
A huge thank you to all the performers, singers, musicians, dancers you were all brilliant! See the fantastic video on Youtube by Dave Morris: https://youtu.be/Mnepsnx0e54 or follow the link from our facebook page: systonsummerfayre.
To all the stall holders who provided such a wide range of interest from crafts, gifts, charity fund raisers, to information stalls and much more.
Our selfie booth with SKB’s Crown was very busy all afternoon with people coming and sitting in the
chair that was once used for the Carnival Queen and taking photos. What lovely memories were made!

Thank you to the Mayor of Charnwood Cllr Jill Tillotson who officially opened the event at 12noon, see picture left and then helped judge the cake competition with Dani from Delish.
The winners were:
Victoria sponge: Mandy Furborough, pictured above. Fairy Cakes: Sarah Braker, Six Jam Tarts: Adult: Judy and Children: Alayna Lakhani
To all the marshals, event and stage crews, a hug thank you as without you it wouldn’t have run so smoothly.
The committee are very grateful for all these volunteers on the day. We are not a very big committee so really do appreciate local residents giving up their day to help.
We will now start on next year, we already have a lot of people booked in to be here again, which reflects what a great afternoon it was.
Finally, Thank you to all the people who turned out and helped to make it a fun and enjoyable afternoon.
Just one of the quotes from our Facebook page after the event:
‘You guys did such a fantastic job it was amazing. Syston owes you a huge thank you. The entertainment was none stop and the stalls and food was amazing too. Thank u xx’
We look forward to seeing you all again in 2023.
We are always looking for additional members for our committee, if you are interested, please contact us through the facebook page or email: systonsummerfayre@gmail.com with your name and contact details.
