Planning application for 130 houses adjacent Inglenook Caravan Park
Dear All,
A new planning application has been lodged for 130 houses adjacent to Inglenook Caravan Park on Barkbythorpe Lane to the west of the railway. If you wish to comment or object you only have until 19th January so to do. BABTAG has sent into Development Control development.control@charnwood.gov.uk at Charnwood Council the following comments and objections.
Dear Planners
P/22/2109/2 130 houses off Barkby Thorpe Lane
BABTAG objected to the precursor to this application which was withdrawn in 2017 and objects to the current one on similar grounds
1 Traffic issues
The proposed development will add to the traffic congestion and pollution problems on this stretch of Barkbythorpe Lane as all its traffic will enter the Lane via a single junction. If approved it will be built many years ahead of the construction of the relief road linking Thorpebury to the Melton Road and the A47. Until that is opened Barkbythorpe Lane will be the main exit and entry route to the northern part of Thorpebury and will be carrying an ever increasing load of traffic. It is not sensible to add further traffic at one of the key points of congestion.
2 Prematurity
This application is for just one part of the HA7 site that is designated for development in the “emerging” local plan. It should not be approved until the Local Plan is adopted and then only in conjunction with a full appraisal of the whole site which incorporates the planned route of the Thorpebury northern relief road and in the knowledge of when that vital new road over the railway will be opened.
3 Coalescence and pressure on local services
If approved this application will result in the loss of agricultural land and a further reduction in the area of separation between Syston and Thurmaston. It will also put further pressure on already struggling local health and education services.
