Platinum Jubilee Community and Business Awards

On Tuesday 17th January the Vice Lord-Lieutenant of Leicestershire Colonel Murray Colville TD DL presented the Syston and District Volunteer Centre with their award at their regular monthly members lunch held at Beedles Lake Golf Club.
In his speech he said he was delighted to join everyone on behalf of the Lord-Lieutenant of Leicestershire, Mr Mike Kapur OBE, to present this very special Platinum Jubilee Community and Business Award.
‘Of course, since you were recognised with this special award earlier in the summer, the Country and Commonwealth have united in grief following the death of Her Majesty The late Queen. Whilst today we come together to celebrate your achievements and contribution to our area, before we proceed, I would invite you all to join me in a moment of quiet reflection and thanksgiving for the reign of Queen Elizabeth II.’
A moment for reflection was held.
He then went on to explain that the award was in recognition and appreciation for the unsung heroes who have gone above and beyond for our communities.
‘In Leicestershire, this unique award has been given to only 70 groups across our city and county – you join a very exclusive club of like minded organisations who have dedicated their time and effort to improving the lives of citizens in our communities. We hope that these unique awards will help to boost morale within your organisation and remind you of the very special memories we made during this once in a lifetime event, and encourage you all to keep up the wonderful work you all do!’
