Rotary Club Gives to Local Food Bank

Following our successful Christmas collections season taking our Santa sleigh around Syston, Thurmaston, Birstall and Mountsorrel plus our static collection points outside ASDA and Dunelm, Wreake Valley Rotary Club members decided to make donations to local food bank projects. Whilst shopping at Birstall Hallam Fields One Stop Shop, one of our members noticed a large tub and a table set up inviting customers to give items to the Soar Valley Food Bank project. On speaking to staff, we learned that they collected each week, so as a club we decided to make some purchases from them and support this local project. When we told the staff what we intended to do we received a further lift when the shop also put in a contribution of £50.00 worth of goods into the collection tub to boost our efforts.
