Silent Auction for Harry
Many people have asked what happens to the toppers. Well, many are donated to groups, charities or individuals. Some are recycled, one went to Coronation Street and another to the House of BBC Ghosts.
But there are a few that were heavily sought after by interested folk such as the ‘Fools and Horses’ topper which appeared on ITV’s Lorraine Show and ‘Harry Potter’ topper. Others fell in love with the Snowman and Snow Dog and some were enchanted by the Gingerbread House. All were shown on local TV news, including the present Coronation topper featuring King Charles III.
SKB has decided to put these up for a silent auction and there is a very good reason for this.
A little Syston boy, Harry, just two years old, has recently been diagnosed with an extremely rare condition known as Bainbridge-Ropers Syndrome. It is so rare that it is estimated only 300 people worldwide have the condition.
Some of the most common characteristics of this condition include:
- Intellectual disability of varying severity
- Developmental delay of varying severity, including speech delay or absent speech
- Behavioural concerns, including features of autism
- Feeding difficulties (particularly in infancy), including cyclic vomiting
- Low muscle tone (hypotonia)
- Seizures
- Palate and dental abnormalities

This little boy is in desperate need of a safe bed to prevent him from physically injuring himself during the night. Whilst his parents have raised £346 via a ‘Go Fund Me’ page, there is still a long way to go as the goal is £1700.
