The ‘M’ Café at The Pharmacie Arms
It’s been a year since the Syston Menopause Café opened it’s doors and what a year it’s been!
Lots of lovely ladies (and their partners) have been down to visit us, we’ve eaten lots of cake (and skinny bars) and drank lots of coffee, tea and hot chocolate (with the occasional alcoholic beverage thrown in too) but most of all what we’ve found is a fantastic group of women who have become firm friends…
I’m sure we’d all agree that our monthly meetings have helped us to be more open about how we’re feeling, we talk about our symptoms and we share ideas and suggestions about how these can be relieved, but by far the best and most amazing thing about the café is to know that we’re not alone on this rollercoaster ride, and whilst we know that while we’re all very different, we’re all linked while we navigate this bizarre and daunting time – we rant, we rage, there’s been tears, but most of all, we’ve laughed… there’s been lots and lots of laughter!
Thanks to the amazing support of Dave @ The Pharmacie Arms, our fabulous community micro-pub, the ‘M’ Café has attracted ladies from far and wide, and we’re pleased to have also helped many other local cafes set up too… there are already café’s in Melton Mowbray and Barrow Upon Soar now and potentially there will be more opening in Loughborough, Leicester and Rutland in the future.
One lady who’s a regular at the ‘M’ Café says “I’ve met some wonderful people and we’ve had lots of giggles whether it’s talking about the menopause or not. I feel that I haven’t been alone going through this journey” .
So if you’re hurtling towards it, in the midst of it, or coming out of the other side of it and you’d like a friendly, welcoming space to chat to others about your experiences, then come along to the Syston Menopause Café – the ‘M’ Café @ The Pharmacie Arms, first Wednesday of each month 6.30pm in the upstairs room.
