Flint – How it Started
It was a delightful village based Ladieswear, gift and soft furnishings boutique based in Groby.
Set in two quaint stone cottages which we believed to be about 350 years old and had been knocked into one.
The stone that was used to build these chocolate box cottages was flint – hence the name! ‘flint’
We opened late in 2006 ready for our first Christmas. But as like a lot of small high streets, shops and Banks closed around us, until there was only a couple of shops left, so I made the very hard decision to re-locate the shop and we chose Syston, as this is where my mum lives and worked, running the old pet shop opposite the cinema that is now Tesco, then in the village bakery.
So, here we are now in the old (as I remember it) Wades furniture shop. The calm décor provides a relaxed atmosphere in which to browse the colour co-ordinated rails of Ladies clothes, shoes, costume jewellery, handbags, cards, small items of furniture and homewares, prints, mirrors, candles and a range of giftware from children’s toys, unusual gifts for that special person or just something that reminds you of a friend.
The stock and the displays are constantly changing to provide an ever-fresh selection of purchases for your perusal and to make the process of shopping an altogether more pleasurable experience.
We look forward to welcoming you.
