Grow Give Live Plant Up Planters

Grow Give Live and a team of volunteers spent a very pleasant morning planting up three big planters outside the community centre in Syston with some beautiful flowers. These will attract much needed pollinators to the area, which will hopefully make sure our fruit and vegetables nearby produce lots of lovely fruit! We are pleased to be supporting Syston Town Council’s efforts in the East Midlands in Bloom competition; all the planters around town are looking fabulous.
We are enjoying seeing the fruit and vegetables planted around Syston begin to flourish; there’s signs of fruit developing on the strawberry plants at the station, and the herbs are really looking well. As a reminder, the produce is free for anyone to take home; please wait until it’s ripe enough, wash before you eat, and please don’t dig up the whole plant – leave some for others to enjoy!
Over the summer months, we will be looking after the various planters we have around town and will be looking forward to seeing how it all comes along. We will also be continuing to work in the background with Charnwood Borough Council on our long term goal of creating a welcoming, inclusive community garden space on the land off Glebe Way. We’ll be at Syston Summer Fayre on 2nd September – please come along and say hello – we’ll have plants, a raffle and more!
