Local Home Care Company Launches Free Companionship Cafés

Local home care company, Home Instead Charnwood, Loughborough and Coalville is excited to launch their new free monthly companionship cafés.

The get togethers invite local people to come together for a chat over a nice cup of tea and enjoy some activities, with each week having its own focus from gardening to knitting and more.

The cafés form part of a wider ‘Key to Care’ campaign which seeks to provide sessions in the community providing support on a range of topics.

Charlotte Johnson, owner of Home Instead Charnwood, Loughborough and Coalville said: “We’re delighted to be able to invest in supporting our local community through our companionship cafés, after such a difficult couple of years brought about by the COVID pandemic, followed by a cost-of-living crisis, it’s so lovely to welcome people to a place where they can simply relax and enjoy some stimulating company, in a comfortable environment”.

Charlotte continued: “The first event is taking place on Wednesday 19th July, so we want lots of older adults from our community to come along to have a chat and make new friends. Loneliness can be very difficult for the elderly so we’re hopeful our companionship cafés will have a big impact. We will also be running some Key to Care sessions during the cafés which provides an opportunity for anyone in later life, their carers or family to come along to ask us any questions they may have in terms of care and be able to come away with the answers they need.

Taking place every third Wednesday of each month, the companionship cafés will be held at 54 Church Gate, Loughborough, LE11 1UE from 1pm – 3pm. There is no charge to attend a session, just come along to the café to meet like-minded people and enjoy some stimulating activities.
