Community Recognition for Work of Volunteer Centre

Picture shows Trustee Treasurer, Christine Ringrose, receiving a cheque for £2057 from Karen Bland, Ladies’ Captain at Beedles Lake Golf Club. The money was raised jointly by the Men’s and Ladies’ Sections of the Club, as both Captain’s agreed to nominate the Syston and District Volunteer Centre as their chosen charity for the year.
Further recognition of the valuable range of services offered to the local community by the Centre has been confirmed by Bradgate Masonic Lodge who have promised a donation ‘in the region of £4800’ expressing the hope this sum will “help (the Centre) to continue the fantastic work you and your colleagues are doing.”
Chairman of the Board of Trustees, Paul Lomas, says: “Such generous support from local groups, in recognition of the services we provide, is especially gratifying and acts as significant motivation for the small team of volunteers, especially our volunteer drivers, staff involved on a day-to-day basis and my fellow Trustees.
I am pleased to be able to report that at the AGM held on 15th August, the current team of Trustees was returned to office for a further year of service. We dedicate ourselves to continuing to provide and develop a programme of services responsive to local needs in line with our mission statement – “to promote and sustain personal independence, community and family ties through the provision of subsidised transport and other volunteer-led services.”
