Charity Auction for SKBs Kylie Topper
Kylie Minogue meets SKBs post box topper of herself in the Padam Padam outfit which adorned the post box on High Street until Friday 15th September, when your editor, Fiona Henry, took it into Radio Leicester and gave Ady Dayman of BBC Radio Leicester a challenge to get it to Kylie herself while she was at the BBC Radio 2 party in the park over the weekend of 16th and 17th September.
It took a lot of organising by the team at BBC Radio Leicester but on Sunday, Ady finally completed the challenge and got it to Kylie, whom you can see in the photograph above, Kylie was thrilled to have been celebrated by SKB and she asked her to auction the topper off in aid of Future Dreams, a breast cancer charity. See the gallery of photos below, starting with the Kylie topper on the post box in Syston, both day and night views, then Fiona presenting the topper to Ady after setting him SKBs the challenge to get it to Kylie. Then Kylie looking thrilled to receive SKBs Topper immortalising her from Ady and finally a picture of the signed postcard that will accompany the topper when auctioned off by Future Dreams Charity as requested by Kylie.
Future Dreams have a special connection with Kylie as the founder of the charity and Kylie were both diagnosed in the same month fifteen years ago. They have been overwhelmed by the story and they are working in conjunction with BBC Radio Leicester and ourselves here at the Stn to raise as much money as possible through this online auction hosted by the charity itself.
SKB said: “Knitting my toppers was originally to just bring a smile to people’s faces but sometimes I have been able to raise awareness of a charity that was important to a member of my local community.
This week I have been able to help a most wonderful charity, Future Dreams a Breast Cancer Charity, that is at the heart of a most successful pop princess, Kylie Minogue. For obvious reasons this has taken social media by storm and leaves me happily overwhelmed by the love shown for my knitted creation.”

Future Dreams Breast Cancer Charity provides practical, emotional and psychological support for those diagnosed with breast cancer, funds vital secondary breast cancer research and promotes breast health awareness. In 2021 the charity opened Future Dreams House, the only dedicated breast cancer support centre in the UK offering in-person and virtual support services to all those touched by breast cancer throughout the UK.”
They are overwhelmed by this act of kindness by SKB and Kylie.
