The Food Warehouse Opens in Syston
Iceland Foods has officially opened a brand-new The Food Warehouse store in Syston, Leicester, with 123 customers eagerly waiting in line from 5.30am for the store to open its doors.
The highly anticipated new store, situated in Melton Road, Syston, opened to the public on Tuesday 21st May bringing with it an estimated 29 additional jobs to the local community.
To celebrate the grand opening, Iceland’s Leicester store gave away £1,000 worth of store vouchers to the first 100 customers in the queue as well as a free 1.2kg tub of Jellybeans to the first 200 customers through the checkout.
Alongside this, every customer who joined the queue before 7.45am on Tuesday morning received a free raffle ticket which saw two winners take home a NutriPro Blender, two more receive a Tower Air Fryer and an additional three customers win a JML hamper.
Three other lucky shoppers also won the chance to take part in a 90 second supermarket sweep-style trolley dash around the entire empty store, filling their trolleys for free.
One of the sweep-style trolley dash winners, Chris Freeman pictured above after the dash, generously donated all their winnings from the dash to the local food bank. Chris is a member of the Wreake Valley Rotary Club and donated the winnings to Soar Valley and Mountsorrel Food bank, a total of £136.90.

The store will be open Monday to Saturday from 8am – 9pm, and Sunday, 10am to 4pm.
