Wreake Valley Rotary Club Annual Presentation Evening
The Rotary Club of the Wreake Valley held their annual presentation evening on the 24th June at the Royal British Legion Club in Birstall.
The evening brings together the groups that benefit from all the money raised by the Rotary Club during the previous year.
The evening began with Present Nigel Coleman presenting Fiona Pimm with her Past President badge.
He said that they had raised over £11,500 over Christmas the Watermead Challenge in July 2023. This is an amazing amount that was shared with a variety of groups and charities.
He then proceeded with presenting the groups and individuals who had received donations for their different groups or charities all based locally.
They included: Syston Town Band, Rainbows, Birstall Royal British Legion Club, Royal National Lifeboat Institute, Air Ambulance, Soar Valley Food Bank, Thrummy Drummer, Prostaid, and Age Concern.
David Fox joined Nigel to present Dave Noseley proprietor of the Beer Phamacie, Syston with the Alan Morley award for service above self.
David Fox explained why they had chosen Dave for this award this year, this included his introduction of a warm space at the beer pharmacie, the fact he is a trained first responder, the Easter egg donation which was given to a local women’s refuge. He provides meeting space for free to groups examples given were a choir and the menopause cafe, but many others. He also volunteers with the Samaritans once a week. He received a donation which he gave to a local charity.
Our picture below shows Dave giving a short reply after he received the award.
