M.A.D.S.
We are now fast approaching the end of 2024 which means we are preparing for our Christmas break at MADS.
So what have we been up to recently? Well, For Halloween, our members made some lovely crafts which they seemed to be very pleased with once they saw their final products. A couple of the crafts included making A Spooky Autumnal Wreath, putting together A Skull Flower-box, a Wooden scene which was layered up to give a slight 3D effect or a little wooden house for LED lights to sit in (pictured below).
To give everyone a smile and a giggle, I even turned up to that session dressed as a Hufflepuff Student from Harry Potter. I always aim to dress up on our Halloween session as it just gives them something to laugh and smile about and that’s all that matters.
We recently had a visit from U3A’s Happy Ukulele Band too and It was lovely to see everyone signing along and enjoying the music. We always have a blast when the Happy Ukulele Band perform for us, Len always gives everyone a reason to smile, laugh and have fun. The Happy Ukulele Band are regular visitors to our group and its nice to see their music enjoyed every visit.
Len even managed to encourage one of our members, Miss M to get up, dance and do the twist. Its always so heart warming to see her dancing away and having fun and its just those little things that makes all our hard work feel worth it.
As usual we are still always looking for donations and funding options so if you believe you can help us please get in touch. We recently had a very generous donation from Shoe Zone and we want to send them our biggest thank you. Their donation will be a massive help to our cause and will benefit the group in helping our members to feel happier and to hopefully help them fight their mental battles.
As we are closing in on the end of the year, we are preparing for our final session which will take place on Wednesday 18th December 2024. This is the session that we decide to throw a little Party for our members so that we can all have a little celebration together before the group closes over the Christmas period. In the meantime, we will keep our members busy with crafts, games and all things fun and enjoy the last sessions of 2024 together.
We want to say thank you to the Brookside Working Men’s Club in Syston for letting us use and continue to use the Brookside Suite through 2024 and we look forward to continuing with the group in 2025 at their premises.
We want to wish all of you a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year and we will see you for a new article and update in the February 2025 issue!
We will re-open again on Wednesday 8th January 2025.
