Canine Community
Hi my name is Liv, and I live locally to the area. I have always had a passion and a want to help others in many ways which sees me currently volunteering at LOROS, where I have recently received my five year award for service. Alongside this I also work as a co trainer with lived experience of Autism for the Oliver McGowan Campaign. In between this I have recently designed and now run a not for profit website called “Canine Community” for all of those small businesses who sell dog products, offer dog related services or even gifts for those pawrents.
The “Canine Community” was built from a mixture of my Autistic and ADHD mind with a sprinkle of my dyslexic flair, and my love for dogs, especially my pooch Maeve. The idea was a way for businesses to advertise themselves for FREE and to also help pawrents find a range of businesses in a single platform. Due to COVID-19 and the cost of living crisis it has been such a shame to see so many small businesses having to close down.
We have lots of areas on our website including:
All of the doggies: This area came about from running my own instagram for my gorgeous pooch Maeve, which has led us to build friendships with like minded pawrents and businesses around the country.
Pet Businesses: This area is for people to advertise their company and what they have on offer for both your pampered pooch or you their pawrent. We have lots of different categories ranging from dog toys to health supplies and personalised or digital items along with lots more.
Doggie Services: This area is for those businesses who offer a service to our playful pooches. This ranges from dog groomers to dog photographers and dog trainers to secure fields as well as lots more. This is easily navigated by selecting the region you are in and the service you need. As we head into spring, if you are looking for a doggie day out at an event, this is a way to pop these dates in your diary and get tickets to ensure you won’t miss out!
Dog Photo Competitions: This section was designed for a bit of fun with your pooch whilst allowing those who advertise with us to donate prizes and have their logos on our announcement banners and also on the competition certificates. We have a range of categories which are free to enter! Go take a look on our winners page to see our first place pooches from previous months.
Whilst I have now transformed my idea to an established website which has allowed me to get to where we are today. My next goal is to promote the Canine Community in leaflet form, and I’d like to thank Wreake Valley Rotary Club for their donation allowing me to move this forward. Keep your eyes peeled for them coming soon.
Finally as a girl with a dream whose mind never goes the easiest of routes but she gets there in the end. I am asking for help in spreading the word about the Canine Community far and wide as I am aiming big and going straight for the nationals! I always think you should start from the heart of your local community, so thank you to Syston Town News for this opportunity. If you are a business, service or use one that would be interested in signing up, please visit our website and fill out the relevant form through our join us section. We really hope to hear from you soon.
