Friends of Barkby Road Cemetery
Hello everybody, summer is here. It’s beautiful at our wonderful cemetery, so peaceful, and listening to the bird song is lovely as well. The weather has been great. Why not spend longer there just sitting on a bench, talking to your loved ones? The downside of this is that the fresh flowers are now only lasting for two or three days, keeping us very busy, when we do our dead flower trawls. Christmas wreaths have now been removed but there are still a lot of Christmas decorations hanging from trees and headstones we have noticed.
A great big shout of thanks to Syston Knitting Banksy, for your wonderful tribute, to assist me with the VE 80 display in the chapel. The next display is our Father’s Day Display and following that a summer theme.
We are being assessed again this year for the Green Flag award so if you could please help us by weeding, watering, removing dead flowers and Christmas decorations it would be a great help. The groundsman is doing a fantastic job for us all isn’t he.
If you would like to plant a rose in memory of a loved one or if you want to sponsor a rose then please contact Catherine Voyce at Syston Town Council on 0116 260 7150, likewise if you would like to hire our beautiful chapel, it is getting very popular now and so it should.
Thank you all for your help.
Ros and the Friends of Syston Cemetery.
