Syston Celebrates VE Day 80
On Saturday 10th May, The community of Syston gathered on Central Park to celebrate 80 years since VE Day. There were a variety of stalls including Age UK and Penny Lane Fudge, to wander around and plenty of food available to purchase, along with the attendance of Billy Bates Fun Fair for the children.
The event featured the acts of, Syston Swing Band, HRT, Queniborough Dance Company and Sarah Clarke throughout the event.
As always, Syston’s Royal British Legion (RBL) attended and there was a stand next to them featuring the VE Day History as well as the Cadets nearby. These guys seemed to be the focus of the people visiting the stands and so many people were so generous in donating to the RBL which was lovely to see. It’s always such a pleasure to see them in attendance at our Syston Events.
It is safe to say this was a good event for everyone in Syston and it was even better that the sun was shining all day for it too. It was lovely to see families and groups of people with their picnic blankets and chairs to come out and enjoy the sunshine.
