Celebrating One Year of Community, Connection and Care at Our Day Centre
Radfield Home Care is proud to mark a heartwarming milestone – the one-year anniversary of our much-loved Day Centre run from the East Goscote village hall. Over the past year, the centre has become a vital part of the local community, providing a safe, welcoming space for older adults to connect, engage, and thrive.
To celebrate this special occasion, Radfield Home Care hosted an anniversary event that was open to the public and full of joy, laughter, and community spirit. We were deeply honoured to welcome the Mayor, Councillor David Northage, and Mayoress Jenny Northage, who kindly joined us for the celebration and had the privilege of cutting the anniversary cake.
The Mayor expressed his pleasure at the strong sense of community spirit and the fantastic turnout on the day. He spent time engaging with local organisations, volunteers, and attendees, recognising the significant impact the Day Centre has on the wellbeing and quality of life of those who attend. His encouraging words reinforced the value of community-based initiatives that support the elderly in meaningful ways.
The day was filled with celebration and activity – from live singing performances and interactive sessions to a fantastic array of stalls hosted by local charities and businesses. A heartfelt thank you goes to Syston District & Volunteer Centre, LOROS, Bradley Hall, and the Neighbourhood Mental Health Café for their presence and ongoing support.
The Day Centre runs every Wednesday from 10am to 2pm at East Goscote Hall, and is designed to provide stimulating and engaging experiences for older adults, particularly those who are less mobile or at risk of isolation. Each week features a different theme, incorporating mentally stimulating activities alongside light physical exercises suitable for all abilities – including seated yoga, table tennis, arts and crafts, music, and more.
Since opening its doors, the Day Centre has become more than just a place to visit – it has become a lifeline. Attendees have built new friendships, rediscovered confidence, and found a renewed sense of purpose. Families and carers have also benefitted, knowing their loved ones have a place to enjoy themselves while they take a well-earned break.
One of our regular attendees shared, “It is the highlight of my week.” And they’re not alone. A recent survey revealed that 100% of those attending the centre would strongly recommend it to their friends and families – a testament to the positive impact it continues to have.
In addition to running the Day Centre, Radfield Home Care specialises in supporting older adults within their own homes, offering a range of high-quality services tailored to individual needs. These include personal care, medication support, light household tasks, 24-hour care, companionship, and escorted outings. Radfield proudly serves Syston, Birstall, Thurmaston, Queniborough, East Goscote, Rearsby, Gaddesby, and Thrussington. Their mission is simple yet powerful: to make ageing more enjoyable and to enable older people to remain living independently at home for as long as possible.
As we celebrate this milestone, we look forward to many more years of companionship, care, and community. Thank you to everyone who has supported us on this journey so far – here’s to another wonderful year ahead!
