Oh Wow, Exhaustion Alert!
Stumbling on into July, we’re exhausted, no guided tours for you, we have no contents (all gone in that 3rd skip) home is but a shell! Some of our ‘rip out bods’ who we acquired through our insurers were perhaps better suited to doing something else, somewhere else, say no more!
Our utmost respect and empathy goes to those who are going through flood recovery for a second time, we really don’t know how you do it, we don’t have the energy to do it once, normality pushed back, cancelled, forgotten, we’ve lost touch with those we shouldn’t, our heads are whizzing ‘with flood recovery and everyday stuff’!
So, for those reading this who may be involved in the ‘official’ now drawn out complex issue of Syston flooding, please push to ‘slow the flow upstream’ and ‘clear the route down Meadow Lane’ so Barkby Brook can reach it’s destination, a destination that’s not the inside of our homes & businesses but via our recently de-silted central area of the brook!
We have battled through our insurers hoops for five months, our insurance acquired building surveyor got fed up of us picking holes in his schedule (well it was wrong/proven), and we are now free to employ who ‘we trust’ to put our home back together.
We’re tired and maybe empty is a better word to use, ‘our get up and go, and usual positivity, has gone’…this is our last article whilst we heal ourselves, feel free to share your own experiences with us all by contacting Syston Town News direct, please don’t let Syston’s flooding be forgotten because summer is on the horizon.
Residents of Syston ‘should not’ be seen as ‘collateral damage’ but we were (and still are), we got by, till now, we were a trade off, more new build housing equals more Council Tax!
Remember, be kind to those you meet, ‘behind those eyes that often water, are tears which are just not allowed to flow’!
