Final Rehearsals Underway for ’Ladies’ Day’

At the time of writing, the cast of Ladies’ Day enter the final weeks of rehearsal, and the pace is quickening down the home straight! This critical phase marks a transition from script-in-hand run-throughs to full memorisation of Amanda Whittington’s brilliant writing. Our runners and riders must rely on instinct, preparation, and trust in the process. With no opportunity for retakes in live theatre, the leading lineup must commit fully; delivering lines with precision and confidence.

The cast continues to impress with their dedication and storytelling prowess. Ladies’ Day is a play rich in detail, weaving together personal narratives with the fast-paced world of horse racing alongside their everyday lives, working in a fish packing factory in Hull.

Interestingly, and central to the story, is the fading tradition of tic-tac, a once essential system of hand signals and coded slang used by on-course bookmakers to communicate betting odds and price movements discreetly and efficiently.

Mastering this historical language has posed a unique challenge for the cast, requiring both technical accuracy and expressive clarity. Yet the whole field has embraced the task with enthusiasm; bringing authenticity and energy to a production that celebrates the thrill of one exciting day at Royal Ascot and the resilience of friendship under some strained, yet hilarious, circumstances.

Audiences can expect a compelling blend of humour and heart when Ladies’ Day gets underway from Tuesday 25 to Friday 28 November 2025 at The Old Chapel in Syston. With only four performances and a limited number of seats, make sure you book today to avoid missing out on a winner!

If we were betting on this production, the odds would be strong; the course is good to firm, the finish post is in sight, and our lineup is under starter’s orders. Don’t miss your chance to grab a grandstand seat -tickets are still available (at the time of print) Book online at www.qttheatregp.co.uk or call Dorothy Surtees on 07989 960014.

We love our audiences cheering us on and do hope our loyal supporters can make one of our shows. Big hats and lots of laughs are a sure bet!
