Heart of England Chorus Entertain, and Invite You to Join Them
The Heart of England Chorus is a barbershop style group that was started more than 50 years ago by Roy Phillips. Roy’s son Ian is currently the Musical Director, and keeping it in the family he is joined by his wife, son and one of his daughters, a real “family affair”.
The Chorus meet weekly on a Monday night from 7.30-10.00pm at Birstall Social Club, LE4 4JS. New members are always welcome, no audition is required.
The group love to entertain and sing at various functions throughout the year.
We have just had quite a busy time over the festive season performing at numerous Residential Care Homes where it is a joy to see the residents join in with us on occasions. In addition, we also recently performed at Groby Christmas Lights switch on fete, and at The Highcross together with Loros and their collection buckets. We had a fabulous fun time at all of the venues.
There is nothing like singing to lift your spirits and bring a smile to peoples faces. But it also has a multitude of other benefits including increasing confidence and self worth, improving physical well being, enhancing breathing and posture, boosting mental well being, reducing stress and helping to build social connections.
We will be offering a free six weeks learn to sing course starting on January 12th 2026 at Birstall Social Club, Why not come along and give it a try, we would love to share our love of barber shop style singing with you. If you can’t manage all 6 weeks then just join in on the weeks you can.
Contact John Phillips on 0773 852 6757 for more details or to register an interest, or just pop in on the night.
