Cantamici Choir
On Wednesday 1st April sees the Leicester Choir, Cantamici, return to St James the Great Church, Birstall to perform John Stainer’s Oratorio ‘Crucifixion.’
This is the Sacred Passion of the Holy Redeemer and was conceived in 1887.
It has texts selected by the Reverand Sparrow-Simpson – very appropriate for Holy Week.
The soloists are John Thawley and Simon Lumby with Simon Ainge on the organ.
There are five hymns for the audience to join in with and the whole event will last just over the hour.
This was a favourite piece of Shirley Scott when he was music director of the Birstall Choral Society.
All are welcome to attend as part of preparations for Easter.
The event starts at 7.30pm and admission is by £7 ticket either on the door or in advance from Rose: 0781 166 2235.
