St Peter and St Paul’s Church News
Heating Thanksgiving
On Sunday 1st February we held a special service which included prayers of thanksgiving for the new heating which has been installed in church. We welcomed Revd Richard Trethewey, the new Archdeacon of Leicester who preached at the service as well as many others who had supported the heating appeal. After the service there was plenty of tea, coffee and cake and an opportunity to view the Commemorative Book of sponsors. We are very grateful to everyone who supported this project and we look forward to sharing details of plans for further improvements to the church building soon.
Lent
Syston Churches Together will be holding the annual Pancake Party on Tuesday 17th February at the Catholic Church on Broad Street. Everyone welcome – please let us know if you would like to come – churchestogetherinSyston2023@gmail.com or 0791 962 0701.
Lent begins with Ash Wednesday on 18th February. There will be a service of Holy Communion with imposition of ashes at 9.30am in Syston and at 6.00pm at St Hilda’s Church, East Goscote.
There will also be a Lent Lunch at St Peter and St Paul’s Church Hall on Thursday 26th February 12.00noon – 2.00pm. This will be a simple meal of soup and bread: £3.00.
Mothering Sunday Service –
Sunday 15th March at 10.30am
Everyone is welcome to this service as we give thanks for mothers and all those who care for us. There will be activities for children and refreshments for all.
