Father and Son to run the London Marathon in aid of Children with Cancer UK
David Hamp, will be 63 when he runs the marathon with his son, Edd who is 34, they will be running the TCS London Marathon on Sunday 26th April. They have lived in Syston for over 30 years.
This is a first for both of them as they normally cycle anything from 50 to 100 miles on a Sunday morning. They have done many local charity rides but have decided to swap two wheels for two legs and have been training since December, building up the miles.
They are running to raise funds for Children with Cancer UK, who are one of the leading childhood cancer charities in UK. They state that around 4,200 children and young people are diagnosed with cancer every year in the UK. Children with Cancer UK have been working tirelessly since 1988 to fund research and initiatives that support children and their families through their cancer journey, developing better, kinder treatments. They also raise awareness to inspire action and fund support for families through treatment and beyond – so that they can help more children have the future they deserve.
David and Ed chose this charity as friends of theirs lost a child to cancer and they have seen the devastating heartbreak that families go through, they hope to raise £2,000.
