Syston Knitting Banxy’s New Post Box Unveiled
What a fabulous morning was held on Saturday 28th February unveiling Syston Knitting Banxy’s (SKB) very own art installation Post box. The residents turn out in some numbers to see this event.
Big thank you to Jay Hairy beekeeper Anderson who can be seen in the photograph above wearing his gift from SKB, who set up the go fund me page, pictured leaning on the post box. Tracey Appleyard dressed as a ball of Wool, behind myself, Fiona Henry, with the bouquet of flowers I received as a thank you from SKB and presented by Ady Dayman! Charlotte Ryan dressed as a post box next to our MP Edward Argar and the legend that is Ady Dayman from BBC Radio Leicester who unveiled the Post box to rapturous applause from the Syston residents who turned out to see this amazing day!
The church held their coffee morning so we included a display of some of SKBs toppers.
Tracey and Charlotte dressed up to raise money for the post box, raising an amazing £680 on the 20th December by carol singing around Syston during the day and the pubs in the evening accompanied by Jo Cochrane as the naughty elf and others. Thank you to them and everyone who donated.
Jay Anderson who started the gofundme page and helped the community to raise the money needed to buy this amazing post box, although it didn’t look as good as it does in the image, see page 14 for how the renovation went.
Thank you Jay, we couldn’t have done it without you.
We also thank our MP Edward Argar, for all his efforts in trying to change Royal mail’s mind about converting the existing Post Box outside the Post Office. He along with County Councillors Simon Bradshaw and James Poland where unfortunately, unsuccessful. But SKB appreciated their attempts.
Your editor read out a thank you from SKB and it was appreciated by the crowd. SKB also gave Jay a lovely gift of a lanyard with a badge saying SKBs NO1 Fan embroidered on it! Jay was thrilled.
A huge Thank you goes to Ady Dayman for coming along on a Saturday morning to unveil this dedicated post box for SKB, she was thrilled that he agreed.
Also a huge thank you goes to all the members of the Methodist Church who kindly gave the space on their land to install the post box, which was expertly installed by Ashley Dayman and his team from Derry’s Nurseries in Cossington.
They have done and excellent job.
We also want to thank our local police beat team who attended to keep everyone safe.
