Hats Spring Play, Award Winner, and News Update
After a fabulously successful Panto, HATS are now looking forward to their next production. Rehearsals for our Spring play have already started, and even at this early stage I can say that we are on course for another successful production.
“Barraclough’s Bounty” is a comedy written by Les Walker, and performed with permission from Cressrelles Publishing Co Ltd.
This play has numerous different things going on at the same time, all crossing over with each other. It will show the relationships between family members and neighbours, who pop into each other’s houses whenever they like. That’s just how it was back in the 1970/80’s, and what makes it such a joy to perform, I’m sure a few of you might relate to some of the scenarios, you might even recognise similarities between the characters and your own experiences. As with all communities there are the lovable people, the annoying ones, problematic young romances, the lawbreakers, the dreams and worries and the true friendships, together with a good many laughs along the way.
HATS members are very experienced at playing all manner of people, so good are they that the parts were cast with ease. Over the next few months, they will develop their roles and be ready to show you once again just how adaptable they are. You are in for another great show. All you have to do is purchase your ticket and then sit back and enjoy a good night.
Dates for Barraclough’s Bounty are:
May 13th, 14th and 15th. All shows will start at 7.15pm.
Venue: Birstall Social Club, Wanlip Lane, Birstall.
Tickets remain at the same price £7 and £6 (concessions)
They are available from our box office on:
0794 879 6675 and 0116 266 1643.
In additional to the Spring Play HATS will once again have a stall at the Birstall Gala on June 20th where you will have the chance to win a family ticket to our next Panto on our raffle. “Stand and Deliver” by Ian McCutcheon with permission from Lazy Bee Scripts, will be performed in December. All raffle proceeds will be donated to Rainbows.
Are you passionate about acting, directing, set building, costumes, lighting, or just fancy trying something new. HATS will be holding a series of three free drama workshops, June 3rd, 10th and 17th, at Birstall Social Club. We are a warm, friendly bunch who put on 2 productions a year, from classic plays, modern favourites, comedies, and our yearly Pantomime. No experience is necessary, just enthusiasm and a willingness to get involved. Whether you want to tread the boards or help behind the scenes this might be just what you are looking for.
It’s a great way to meet new people, increase your confidence, self-esteem and memory, enhance your mental and physical health, learn voice projection, have fun and many others benefits. We would love to meet you.
For more details contact 0794 879 6675 or just pop along on the above dates for a 7.30pm start.
And Finally, we want to share our fabulous success with you. The Pantomime Alliance Leicestershire Society judge many panto’s in and around the Leicester and Leicestershire area, culminating in a fabulous Awards Night. Not quite the OSCARS but it’s a fabulous, fun filled night celebrating the long-standing British Pantomime.
This year HATS had two amazing results. Micheal Smith was nominated for the Best Supporting Male, whilst Heather Wilcock was nominated for the Best Supporting Female. Ultimately Micheal went on to achieve the ultimate WINNER of his category. We are so proud of them both.
We just had to share this news with you.
Watch out for regular updates on the Spring Play and the free drama workshops and our next Panto in your local magazines, facebook and other places.
