Bronze Eco Church Award
We are delighted to announce that we been awarded the Bronze Eco Church Award. In order to achieve this we had to complete an online survey across five areas—worship, buildings, land, community, and lifestyle. Work that we have done to meet the requirements includes:

  • celebrating and promoting caring
    for creation in worship
  • encouraging church members to
    use eco friendly products where
    possible
  • making our
    church buildings
    more
    energy efficient
    e.g. switching to
    LED lightbulbs
    and installing the
    new electric heating system
  • supporting and praying for
    environmental charities.
Thank you to everyone who has worked so hard to achieve this!
    Open Church
On the second Saturday of each month we are opening the church between 10.00am and 12.00noon. All are welcome to come in and spend time in peace and prayer or just to look around Syston’s Grade 1 listed building. The next open church morning will be Saturday 9th May.
    Christian Youth Club
A group of volunteers regularly go into St Peter and St Paul’s school to run a lunchtime club for Year 3 children. This term the children have been learning all about the journey through Lent to Easter. They created this wonderful piece of art which was displayed in church on Easter Sunday.
    Easter Services
Holy Week began with a joyful celebration of Palm Sunday in a cafe church style service at St Hilda’s, East Goscote. Good Friday began with an Easter trail for children around the churchyard, the chocolate egg prizes were very much enjoyed! Then we joined with Syston Churches Together for a Walk of Witness. We began at the Community Centre and gradually moved round the town, pausing to pray and sing hymns finishing in the Town Square with a rousing rendition of ‘My Song is Love Unknown’.
Our Easter Sunday celebrations were full of joy and colour as we lifted high the Easter candle proclaiming ‘Christ is Risen!’ We also decorated an Easter cross with flowers made by the congregation and by the children from the Christian Youth Club at St Peter and St Paul’s School.
