The Rainbows Spring Classic Car Run, Supporting Rainbows Hospice

On behalf of the organisers of the Rainbows Hospice Classic Car Run held on Sunday April 26th, we would like to thank all those 85 entrants who took part and who helped make it such a successful day, raising nearly £2000 for Rainbows.
Thankfully, a rather chilly and shivery early start soon became a much warmer and pleasant sunny experience, certainly for those of us in ageing open-topped cars with poor-performing heaters, and especially for the intrepid crew who arrived in the Duke of Rutland’s own 1908 Renault!
We began the Run at the very helpful and accommodating Buttercups Tearoom near Tilton on the Hill, who opened early for us so we had time to enjoy a welcome hot drink and a breakfast cob before setting off on a very scenic 50-mile trundle along mainly minor roads in the beautiful and often under-appreciated eastern regions of Leicestershire.
The route finished at the popular Stonehurst Farm in Mountsorrel, where we were welcomed to our own dedicated parking area forming part of their own Classic Car Show (which itself raised a further £2400 for Rainbows) where, along with their usual delightful family attractions, their hog-roast and pop-up bar were very much appreciated by us all.
Having received very positive feedback on the day it certainly made all the effort put in by the organising committee worthwhile – and resulted in a great outcome for Rainbows!
Special thanks need to go to all the staff at Buttercups Tearoom and Stonehurst Farm, as without their help and co-operation in providing our start and finish venues such an event would not have been such a great success.
The next event will be on Sunday September 6th 2026, again supporting Rainbows Hospice. Please contact rccrcomms@gmail.com for entry information and further details.
