Age Concern Syston
We are a local charity based in Syston, supporting people over the age of 55 years of age who may be vulnerable, socially isolated, or in need of companionship and support within the community.
We currently run three different groups and activities for our members, helping them stay connected, active, and independent. Unfortunately, due to a shortage of volunteers, we are now having to cancel some weeks because we do not have enough people available to transport attendees or escort and support our Day Care Leader during sessions.
We are reaching out to local Community to ask whether you may be willing to support us by being able to spare us a few hours weekly or monthly to volunteer on either a Thursday or Friday, We are particularly in need of:
* Volunteer drivers with a D1 on their licence, to drive our minibus.
* Escorts/support volunteers to assist our Day Care Leader. There is no personal care involved.
Even a few hours of support can make a huge difference to older people in our community who rely on these groups for social interaction and wellbeing.
Volunteering can also be a fantastic opportunity for community engagement, and giving back locally.
If this is something you think you may be interested in discussing, we would love to hear from you and provide more information about the roles and how flexible volunteering can be.
Thank you for taking the time to read this and for supporting local charities and the people who rely on them.
Contact us on 0116 260 1476 for further information or pop into our office at the Methodist Church Centre, High Street.
Monday-Thursday 8.30am to 12.30pm.
