Open Church
Each Saturday in July we are opening the church between 10.00am and 12.00noon. All are welcome to come in and spend time in peace and prayer or just to look around Syston’s Grade 1 listed building. Refreshments including iced coffee are available.
Christian Youth Club
The Christian Youth Club, which we run for Year 3 pupils at St Peter and St Paul’s School, has been very busy recently. We made doors representing Jesus being welcomed to come into our hearts. We made personalised church stones complete with googly eyes which were loved by all, some had 3!! The children learned that the church is the people and that we are all different. We also remembered the Pentecost, the birthday of the church, and celebrated that we are all different by making a giant heart print of thumbprints. We barely have enough time to set up each week before we are overrun with excited children and we all enjoy our short time together getting to know more about Jesus.
Festival of Angels
This year, to further expand our Christmas Tree Festival, we are including a Festival of Angels! These can be free standing and will be located in our windowsills (approx 25cm deep), or they can be suspended high above our heads in the spaces around the church. They will need to be fairly light as they will be attached to fishing line. They can be made of any material to suit the location. More information will be shared on registration. It’s time to unleash your creativity! Your creations will need to be registered by 31st October and completed by 13th November to allow time for installation. Oasis Contemplative Prayer Group
Come and spend half an hour in quiet and stillness as our Associate Minister Sue leads us in silent prayer. A variety of holding objects and prayer beads are available to help still the mind and soul. A wonderful opportunity to simply ‘be’ and rest in the presence of God. Meets on the second Tuesday of the month in the Lady Chapel. Upcoming dates – 14th July, 11th August, 8th September.
