Elevenses Book Group
April marked the 10th anniversary of the founding of the Syston library-based Elevenses Book Group and the occasion was marked with a specially made book-shaped cake and a commemorative photograph.
Originally set up by the library, the group is now self-run and meets on the 2nd Thursday of every month at 11.30am. As well as the chance to meet socially, the members all feel that joining has introduced them to authors and genres that they would not have chosen themselves and that they have learnt about different eras, cultures and subjects as a result. All agree that the least popular book often provides the most interesting discussions and it is certainly true that ‘You can’t judge a book by its cover’!
