The Edith Murphy Foundation

The Friends of Belgrave Cemetery would like to thank the Edith Murphy Foundation for their support. The Friends were formed in 2004 and their aims are the conservation and restoration of Belgrave Cemetery which opened in 1881.
Unfortunately due to Leicester City Council memorial health and safety programme, vandalism, mother nature and gravity, many of the fine memorials in the cemetery are lying down.
With the proceeds of our Open Days, Guided Walks, book sales and donations from our members, plus the generosity of the Edith Murphy Foundation, many of the headstones are now in their original upright position ensuring their preservation for future generations to see and appreciate.
Regards Dorothy.
