Poppy Soldiers – Poem by Hannah Jordan
They pop up, from the ground,
In rows of soldiers,
Marching to their victory.
Many tears will be shed as their petals drop.
One by one, crimson fades from the sun.
Their battles are short,
And the elements fierce.
Blood stained petals,
Amongst green fields of tears.
A gentle crash,
Rows fall down,
See the poppy’s,
Return to the ground.
And in their journey,
New life will grow,
From the poppy’s
That root below.
Their seeds will cast memories,
Of the courageous fight.
And as they fall, we remember their might.
Bask in the glory of the gorgeous red that remains. And remember our soldiers, victorious to this day.
