Syston Band News
On the last weekend of September the usual tranquillity of Copt Oak was broken (in the nicest possible way) by the sounds of ‘24 Hours of Brass’ – a fundraising event organised by Ann Cairns of Oddfellows Band in aid of Breast Cancer Now and the Chris Moore Foundation.
Beginning at 9.00pm on Saturday night a group of players drawn from bands across the Midlands played through the night and until 7.00pm on Sunday evening when they were joined by all of Oddfellow’s Band for a rousing final two hours. Never falling to less than a quartet, even in the wee small hours, Syston Band was well represented throughout, with Syston’s Rachael Hill present for the entire event. If you Donations can still be made at www.justgiving.com/crowdfunding/twentyfouhoursofbrass.
