High Class Ironing and Laundry is a family run business based in Queniborough, for nearly 20 years. We have always prided ourselves on being affordable yet never compromising on quality. We have expanded vastly over the years and expanded the business from just ironing and laundry, to professional clothing care and cleaning. With this expansion, we have been able to employ more people and offer more jobs to local people. John and his wife started the company from the comfort of their living room nearly 20 years ago. Raising two children with disabilities and struggling to make ends meet, they opted to take the plunge in to offering ironing services locally. The business took off at an alarming rate and they had to upgrade their machinery to professional ironing machines and presses. Soon, they took an even bigger risk and opened up a shop in Syston. They were able to employ local people and create secure jobs for their staff. After a few years in a small shop, they needed more space due to a rapidly growing customer base. This is where they are now located, in Queniborough, on the BP garage forecourt (Marks and Spencer’s). High Class offers a delivery and collection service.The company has also expanded the laundry side of the business. They now cater for hotels, restaurants, B&B’s and serviced apartments. John and his manager Sam, have been taking serious consideration for the environment also, over the last year. The company is now 80% plastic free and continues to find ways to lower their plastic use even further to become a sustainable company. The High Class team have now launched their far more eco friendly version of traditional dry cleaning. This is known as Wet Cleaning. Most people, unless they have very sensitive skin, don’t realise how harmful the dry cleaning process is, so it’s very exciting to now introduce to people a healthier way to clean their clothes for their families, a way that’s also kinder to the planet.Let’s explain briefly the difference between traditional Dry Cleaning and the new eco friendly Wet Cleaning: Unlike conventional dry cleaners who soak clothes in toxic chemicals which they then evaporate at very high temperatures, High Class Ironing’s ‘wet clean’ technology uses biodegradable detergents, pure water and modern, complex machines to clean the clothes you cannot wash at home. ?This much more planet and people friendly process, which does not require the use of toxic solvents to be highly effective, uses sophisticated machines, calibrated to be just the right amount of gentle on fibres and tough on stains. Four REASONS TO OPT FOR Wet Cleaning: 1- Wet Cleaning doesn’t use toxic chemicals. – Wet Cleaning doesn’t use the main chemical used in Dry cleaning; PERC (perchloroethylene) which is in 85% of dry cleaning fluids. This product is a probable carcinogen and a known health and environmental hazard. 2- It’s kinder to your skin and health. See above.  3- Your clothes will last longer. – Wet Cleaning provides a higher quality clean, noticeably softens clothes and leaves them clean and smelling fresh! Dry Cleaning can damage the fibres of materials due to the high temperatures used. Wet Cleaning uses far lower temperatures, therefore preserving the quality of your clothes.
