Thrussington Fun Run

Trainers for a fun run? No! We ran it in our socks! Adam Blair, age 6, was the owner of one pair of the seven trainers found stuck in the mud in the first stream crossing. Some hard core youngsters completed the rest of the course in their socks, negotiating mud, streams and haybales!  Weather was kind to us this year, despite earlier storms, the ground and streams were perfect. Almost 300 runners entered, many of whom used our flashy new website and online application kindly provided by Six  – . Many congratulations to our winners: Pre-School – Noah Stevens and Chloe Harrison Reception -Year 2 affiliated: Philip Wardlaw & Alice Howlett Reception -Year2 unaffiliated: Adam Wells and Tamzin Nicholson Year 3-Year 4 affiliated: Kieran James and Ayesha Bickle Year 3-Year 4 unaffiliated: William Kent and Arabella Faulconbridge Year 5-Year 6 affiliated: Beckett Moore and Eleanor Morley Year 5-Year 6 unaffiliated Jacob Duncombe and Ava Alexander Year 7-Year 9 affiliated Joshua Duncombe and Dominika Walden Year 10-17 years old unaffiliated: Keeley McAllister Adults affiliated: Gareth Tomlinson and Toni O’Donovan Adults unaffiliated: James Bentley and Michelle Kent Vet 50+ affiliated: Martin James and Fiona Bates Vet 50+ unaffiliated: Andrew Duncombe and Nasreen Wardlaw School Prize: Race 1,2 and 3: Thrussington Primary School Family Team affiliated: The Electrolytes Family Team unaffiliated: Kent We continue to benefit from the generosity of sponsors and donators and this year we are grateful to: HCC Tokio Marine, Leicestershire Garden Design, Effect, Six, Charles Bentley,  Raylec Electrical Installations, Buildbase, Ginsters, Thrussington Garage, East Midlands Airport, Wreake Valley Craftsman, Melton Building Society, Manor Farm, Boudoir Hair and Beauty, Tesco. We’re still finalising figures, but we hope to have raised in the region of £2000. The event couldn’t happen without the help and support of the community. Thanks to sixty volunteers who pulled together to help with admin, marshal and serve tea and pasties and cake to make sure the event ran smoothly. Thanks also to Wreake Runners who acted as hares for the races.  Here are just some of the pictures, courtesy of the organisers, showing some of the runners:
