Asda Foundation Derby Half Marathon & Derby 5 Mile Road Closure Run Down

Runners will be heading to Derby on Sunday 28th November for the Asda Foundation Derby Half Marathon and the brand new addition, the Asda Foundation Derby 5 mile.

Both events are expected to raise tens of thousands of pounds for local good causes.

The organisers, Run For All, are now advising runners, spectators, residents and visitors that a number of the city’s roads will be closed or have access restricted to ensure the safety of all those taking part.

Both events will start and finish in Iron Gate, close to Derby Cathedral, with the Half Marathon starting at 9.15am followed by the 5 mile which will begin at 9.30am.

The Half Marathon will start and finish in Iron Gate close to Derby Cathedral, then it’s out on London Road and Shardlow Road to Elvaston Castle Country Park, through Alvaston Park, past Derby County’s Pride Park Stadium and back to the city centre for the big finish.

The 5 mile will also start and finish in Iron Gate, then it’s out on London Road, past Derby County’s Pride Park Stadium and back to the city centre for the big finish.

The event will require the closure of roads and road junctions as well as the suspension of a number of Traffic Regulation Orders between 6.00pm on Saturday 27th November and 4.00pm on Sunday 28th November.

Road closures will affect roads including, Albert Street, Blue Peter Roundabout (Eastbound), Bold Lane, Bradshaw Way, Cathedral Road, Corporation Street, Full Street, Iron Gate, Pride Parkway Roundabout, Riverside Road, Royal Way, Shardlow Road, St Mary’s Gate, The Strand, Texaco Roundabout, Victoria Street and Walker Lane.

The event is being organised by Jane Tomlinson’s Run For All, working in partnership with Derby City Council and Derbyshire County Council

Tristan Batley-Kyle, Run For All head of events, said: “We are delighted to be working with our partners on the Asda Foundation Derby Half Marathon and Derby 5 mile and we hope everyone involved has a great day.”

“With such a large-scale event a certain amount of disruption is inevitable and we apologise for any inconvenience that may be caused. We will be working very hard to re-open the roads as soon as possible.”

Participants in the half marathon or 5 mile can choose to run for fun or to raise funds for any cause of their choice.

They are particularly encouraged to support one of the event’s official partner charities: Jane Tomlinson Appeal, Children First Derby, Rainbows and First Steps.
