Letter From Marie Curie
Dear Readers
My name is Peter Sara, I am the new Marie Curie Community Fundraiser for Leicestershire and Northamptonshire.
In March 2022, after five years of supporting people across Cambridgeshire and Bedfordshire to raise vital funds for Marie Curie, I started working with a new set of excellent supporters in Leicestershire and Northamptonshire.
Marie Curie is the UK’s leading end-of-life charity, here to support people through all aspects of dying, death and bereavement – and to fight for a society where everyone gets to have the best experience possible at the end of their lives.
Marie Curie is here to help the UK talk, plan and prepare, to get things sorted in advance. Our nurses and support line officers are on the front line to help people, along with their family and friends, through their final years, months, days and hours of life – whether they have coronavirus, or any illness they’re likely to die from. Our bereavement service is there for loved ones left behind.
Marie Curie’s researchers push to discover more about what makes a good end of life, and our policy experts and campaigners fight for a society where everyone gets to have the best experience possible at the end of their lives.

Note: Paula is playing the role of an RN but in her real job role she is a HCA.
In Leicestershire and Northamptonshire, our Marie Curie nurses work on the front line, night and day, in people’s homes, providing hands-on care and vital emotional support. They help people living with a terminal illness to feel safe, supported and cared for in the place where they’re most comfortable.
We want to change all of society’s attitudes to dying, death and bereavement – which means we’re supporting everyone in the UK. But we specifically support people affected by terminal illness, death and bereavement. (Not just people living with cancer).
Someone has a terminal illness when they reach a point where their illness is likely to lead to their death. Depending on their condition and treatment, they may live for days, weeks, months or even years after this point.
I would love to hear from you if you run a local business and would like to help give back to your local community by supporting our nurses. We also have brilliant ways for your school, clubs and groups to fundraise for us. Whether it’s virtual or physical fundraising, we also have something for everyone.
If you want to find out more information on the amazing work that our nurses do or would like to do some fundraising then call, text or WhatsApp me at 0751 513 5403 or by email at peter.sara@mariecurie.org.uk.
Looking forward to hearing from you.
Mr Peter Sara
