Dear Editor,
We are very lucky to live in a beautiful cul de sac next to open fields called Whissendine Way. This appeals to dog walkers galore, and quite rightly so, however, whilst the majority of people are very courteous, there are many who are not.
The cul de sac is becoming a car park and a meeting point. They have the right I know, but surely a hammerhead is for turning and to see the poor bin lorry driver struggling to turn, even using residents’ driveways is not good. When asking a driver politely to not park on the path, as we have a disabled neighbour, the retort was ‘move if you don’t like living here’.
We tolerate it because we have to live and let live, but could I ask for some respect. Allowing the dogs to mess on our gardens and plants and saying ‘don’t worry I’ll clear it up’ is not on. A dog will always cock its leg up, but our fences are rusting and rotting.
My recent visitors noticed dog sick on the path yet again, which I had to clear up. The paths are usually covered in mud, anyway, dropped from dirty boots. The fields can be accessed from other openings, but people seem to prefer the residential route, even from 5am.
It is their right, but could I ask for a little consideration and yes, I do own a dog.
A concerned resident.
