QT Theatre

Firstly, Happy New Year to you all! You’ll probably be reading this in February but it’s the first opportunity I’ve had, not only to wish you ‘HNY’ but also to say a huge ‘thank you’ to all the people who came along to support our production of Alan Ayckbourn’s ‘Absent Friends’.

The picture above, courtesy of QT, shows the whole cast making themselves comfy on the sofa; back row, l-r, Tom Westwood (Paul), Jules Richards (John), Leigh White (Colin)  Front row, l-r, Kat Seddon (Diana), Jo Woollaston (Evelyn), Jo Gallagher (Marge)

Four of the five performances were almost sold out and it was wonderful, not only to see lots of new faces in the theatre but also to hear so many of them say what a wonderful evening they had had and how they will come back for our next production!
So towards the end of May this year, we shall be performing ‘Pretzels for Dinner’ by Janet Shaw. Some of you might remember, back in November 2017, that we performed her wonderful play ‘One Day I’ll Fly Away’. There are two reasons why I remember it so well; firstly, I directed it but also had a small, almost non-speaking part in it, the last time I was on the stage, but also Janet Shaw came to see it! That was a bit scary cos you never know if the playwright is going to appreciate, our even enjoy, your interpretation of their play
Luckily Janet loved what we did and it was her suggestion that ‘Pretzels for Dinner’ would be a perfect vehicle for our group. So auditions will be taking place at the end of this month.
I am pleased to say that the three new actors who joined us for the last play are all very keen to ‘do it again’ but I also need a couple of younger actors, two females or one male, one female, in the 18 to 23 age group. Do you fancy having a go? Please let me know, ideally by email or by text message to 07702 879 006.
I must acknowledge, at this point, the incredible work carried out by our Marcomms Committee Member, Kat Seddon, who kept our profile right up there on FaceBook! She, along with massive support from Jules Richards, Tom Westwood, Jo Gallagher and a little bit from me, ensured that the message got though to many people, hence our increased audiences!
Once rehearsals start, there’ll be lots of posts and ‘teasers’ about the play so I hope that even more of you will want to come along to The Old Chapel for an evening of fun and laughter.
If anyone would like further information about the play or the group, please feel free to contact me on 07702 879 006, or checkout www.qttheatregp.co.uk, or email qtsyston@gmail.com
