Friends of Barkby Road Cemetery

Hello everyone-
It’s here at last, spring has arrived. Lots of birds are now starting to build their nests in the hedges and bushes and trees. Aside from this we have got blue tits nesting in our box at home, that’s the first for a few years.
Don’t all the floral arrangements and tributes look lovely as you sit and reflect and look around our beautiful cemetery.
It’s a bit busy in the Chapel for displays now – Easter, St. Georges Day and the Coronation of King Charles lll, all within a few weeks of each other.
The waiting room flooring is now in hand and we are having chairs recycled from the community centre. Once it’s done it will look lovely. That is the last big expense for us now completed and the carpet should be done within the next few weeks.
However, the weeds keep growing so the friends will keep removing them along with dead flowers, the weathered wreaths etc.
the best we can.
As always you are quite welcome to purchase a Standard Rose Bush in memory of a loved one, if this is something you’d like to do either contact Catherine Voyce at Syston Town Council on 0116 260 7150, or
dave.hackett68@outlook.com.
The Chapel is also available to hire and only cost £60.00, once again should you wish to do that, contact Catherine Voyce at Syston Town Council.
A date for the diary: Saturday 3rd June from 11.00am till 3.00pm the cemetery will be open to commemorate the nine War Graves that we have.
