A Life Changing and Fearful Experience.

I have regular sight tests at Your Sight opticians in Syston. Nitin and the team have always been so professional and have always gone above and beyond to ensure I get the best care. Over the years Nitin has got to know me and my eyes very well.
On a routine visit a few weeks ago, Nitin noticed that I had several bleeds behind my eyes.
He explained the situation to me clearly and concisely. He gave me the relevant reassurance I needed as at this point, as anyone else, I was extremely worried. It was such a comfort to know that he ensured I was equipped with the details I needed to know about the discovery and I understood with the use of relevant terminology. He provided me with a letter, for me to take to my GP requesting a set of full blood tests and blood pressure checks. I was advised to get in touch with the surgery as soon as possible for the relevant tests. I was able to take this letter to the reception staff who expedited me an appointment with a Doctor.
I received the necessary tests and consultations. It transpired that I had Stage 2 Hypertension and my cholesterol was raised. I did not feel any different in myself, I did not feel unwell and I could honestly say I was not feeling symptomatic. However, there was clearly an issue going on behind the scenes.
This was a strong wake up call for me as I realised how much one eye test can reveal. I became aware of just how important this discovery has been for me and my life. I have been able to work with the doctors to get the treatment I need, with my blood pressure now under control and my cholesterol on its way down to a good place. I think this message is very important and everyone should give their eyes the attention they deserve and ensure they have routine sight tests.
I am ever so grateful to Nitin for always looking after my eyes to the highest standard. I feel this is a new chapter for me and I that I owe this to the discovery made during this simple yet fundamental sight test. I wish to thank the whole Your Sight Opticians team for everything.
